Does OctoPress include an AI model?
No. OctoPress connects WordPress to the AI account, API provider, or compatible endpoint you choose. You pay your provider directly, or use an existing subscription where the provider allows it.
Can I use my existing AI subscription?
Yes, when the provider supports it. ChatGPT and eligible Grok subscriptions can sign in without an API key. Anthropic and the other API providers need an API key from the provider's dashboard; a Claude.ai chat subscription can't be used.
Will it change my site without asking?
No. Write actions go through enabled tools and permission checks, and they pause for your approval unless you configure a chat to approve selected actions automatically. Each approval shows the tool and the fields it will change.
What does it cost?
The core plugin is free. Pro is an annual subscription priced by the number of sites. AI usage is billed or limited by the provider you connect, and the usage panel shows the tokens each chat uses.
Where is my data, and are API keys safe?
Chats, settings, agent profiles, and encrypted provider secrets are stored in your WordPress database. Provider secrets are stored server-side and are not returned in normal browser-facing responses.
What do I get with Pro?
Pro adds the Store Manager, Builder, and Planner agents, SEO workflows for Yoast SEO and Rank Math, the Scheduler, and OpenAI hosted web and image tools, plus Pro updates and support.
Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce abilities are exposed as tools when WooCommerce is active, and they go through the same tool settings and approval system as everything else.
Will it run on my hosting?
Yes, when the hosting account allows normal WordPress loopback requests to the same site. If a host blocks loopback requests or disables WP-Cron without a replacement, long-running chats may not continue reliably.
